Built for building life

Crews Who Already Know How Your Building Works

Apartment cleaning comes with a step that house cleaning never sees: the building itself. Live in a high-rise and your management office probably wants a certificate of insurance on file before any crew touches the freight elevator. Some towers make vendors reserve that elevator two days out. Others only allow outside workers between 9 and 4, which is exactly when you're at the office.

But none of this should land on you. The crews we match clean apartments all week, so the paperwork is routine for them. They'll email the COI to your property manager ahead of the visit and sign in at the front desk like any other vendor. Can't be there? Most clients aren't, and the visit runs fine on a key release or a door code.

A quick note on who we are. HomeEck is a free referral line, not the company holding the mop. You call and describe the unit. We connect you with an independent local crew that's background-checked and insured, and you hear a realistic price range before you hang up. The crew confirms the final number before any work starts. And if you rent a garden-style unit or a third-floor walk-up instead of a tower, everything gets simpler, including the schedule.

Square footage pricing

Apartment Cleaning Rates From Studio to 3BR

Apartments are the easiest jobs in this business to price, because square footage does most of the talking. These are the one-time standard clean rates crews in our network quote every day.

Standard apartment clean, typical one-time rates
Unit sizeTypical priceTime on site
Studio$80 to $1301.5 to 2.5 hours
1 bedroom$95 to $1502 to 3 hours
2 bedroom$120 to $2002.5 to 4 hours
3 bedroom$150 to $2603.5 to 5 hours

A second bathroom pushes you toward the top of each band, and so does a shedding pet or a long gap since the last professional visit. First visit in rough shape? Expect a deep clean surcharge of 40 to 60 percent, with standard rates applying afterward. The full math, including hourly and per-square-foot pricing, lives in our house cleaning cost guide.

One more number worth knowing. Put the same unit on a repeat schedule and the per-visit price drops, often by 15 to 25 percent. For a 1 bedroom, maid service on a biweekly schedule regularly lands under $120 a visit.

What we'd tell a friend first

If this clean is really about a lease ending, you're on the wrong page. Book a move-out clean scoped to the landlord walkthrough instead. Appliance interiors and baseboards come standard there, and crews hold same-week slots for lease deadlines. A deposit is usually worth four or five times the $150 to $350 that clean costs.

Scope

What a Standard Apartment Clean Covers, and What Costs Extra

Small spaces get dirty differently. The kitchen shares air with the living room, so cooking grease drifts onto shelves that would stay clean in a house. Dust and allergens concentrate because the same square footage takes all the traffic. A standard visit is built around that reality.

In every standard visit

  • Kitchen: counters sanitized, sink scrubbed, stovetop degreased, cabinet fronts spot-wiped, floor mopped.
  • Bathroom: toilet and shower disinfected, vanity and mirror polished, floor washed, towels straightened.
  • Living and sleeping areas: shelves dusted, floors vacuumed with edge work, mirrors wiped, everything squared away.
  • Unit-wide: trash out, door handles and light switches wiped down.

Small-space add-ons worth asking about

  • Inside the oven: $25 to $50.
  • Inside the fridge: $25 to $45.
  • Interior windows: $5 to $10 each.
  • Balcony or patio sweep and rail wipe: $15 to $30.
  • Blinds dusted slat by slat: $3 to $8 per set.
  • A load of laundry washed and folded: $20 to $30.

Our advice for studios specifically: take the oven and fridge add-ons on your first clean. Cooking smells cling to a one-room layout, and both appliances sit ten feet from where you sleep. The window add-on can wait until spring.

Four Building Details That Make the Visit Painless

  • Certificate of insurance. Most buildings over four stories want one on file. Established crews carry general liability coverage and can email a copy the same day you book.
  • Elevator windows. Ask your front desk if vendors need a freight elevator reservation. Crews will happily work around a 10 a.m. slot, but they can't conjure one at 8:55.
  • Keys and codes. A front-desk key release with your written OK is the smoothest option. Smart locks work too. Set a one-day code and delete it after the visit.
  • Parking. If your building validates or has a loading zone, say so on the call. Downtown garage fees sometimes get tacked onto quotes, and a validation makes them disappear.

Apartment Cleaning Questions We Hear on the Line

How much does it cost to clean a studio apartment?

Through our network, a standard studio clean usually runs $80 to $130 and takes under three hours. Condition matters more than size at this level. A studio that gets a light weekly once-over sits near the bottom of the range, while one that hasn't been touched since move-in can land above the top of it, especially once a first-visit deep clean gets added. Shedding pets nudge the number up too. You'll hear a firm range for your exact unit on the phone before anything gets booked.

Do I have to be home while my apartment is cleaned?

No, and most clients aren't. The common setups are a key released at the front desk with your written permission, a one-day smart lock code, or a lockbox clipped somewhere discreet. Crews are used to texting a photo of the finished unit and confirming the door latched behind them. If it's a first visit, though, try to be there for the opening ten minutes. Pointing out the two or three things you care about most is worth more than any checklist.

How long does an apartment clean take?

Plan on 1.5 to 2.5 hours for a studio and up to five hours for a 3 bedroom, assuming a solo cleaner. Two-person crews cut those times roughly in half, which matters in buildings with tight vendor windows. Add-ons stretch the clock, and an oven interior alone runs 30 to 45 minutes. First visits also go long because the crew is still learning the unit. After that, times settle into a groove your front desk can set a watch by.

Can crews handle my building's insurance and access requirements?

Yes, and it's worth flagging on the call so we match you accordingly. Crews that clean high-rises regularly carry general liability coverage and can email a certificate of insurance to your management office, often the same day you book. They also know the drill on freight elevator reservations and vendor sign-in sheets. If your building has an unusual rule, maybe a specific COI wording or an escort policy, tell us upfront and we'll pair you with a crew that has already worked under it.

What's not included in a standard apartment clean?

Appliance interiors, inside windows, wall washing, and laundry all sit outside the standard scope, and so does anything out on a balcony. Those are add-ons with their own prices, typically $15 to $50 each, and a good crew quotes them before the visit instead of surprising you at the door. Dishes are the gray area. A few in the sink usually get done as a courtesy, while a full sink becomes a small charge. If the whole unit needs rescuing, price a one-time deep clean rather than stacking six add-ons.
